Statement by Vassilios Demetriades upon Accepting the 2026 “Blue UP” Blue Planet Impact Contribution Award
Honoured to receive the “Blue UP” 2026 Blue Planet Impact Contribution Award.
I would like to sincerely thank the Organizing Committee for this recognition. I accept it with humility and gratitude.
Ι particularly value that this distinction, awarded by leading institutions from China, reflects a vision that goes beyond national borders and underscores our shared global responsibility to protect our oceans and advance sustainable development.
For me, this award is not only a recognition of past efforts, but above all a commitment to continue working - through initiatives, policies and daily decisions - towards ocean sustainability, the development of the blue economy, and the engagement of the next generation.
